Wonderfully offbeat film!
Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
View MoreWhen a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
View MoreFun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
View MoreThis movie is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. Of course it helps that one of my all-time favorite actors stars in it - Emile Hirsch. This movie is heartbreaking, not a very easy watching time. I usually don't like sad movies, but this one is a must see. It stays with me. It is about so many things - a great love story, loss, ability (or inability rather) to overcome the loss. The choices that people make, how they impact their lives and the lives of others. Inescapable horrors of war, what trauma it leaves behind. This is a beautiful tribute to what happened in former Yugoslavia. But for me it's the love story that's the most appealing, played beautifully by Emile and Penelope Cruz. Not a fairy-tale love, but a mature love with all its hardships, that is nevertheless as fresh after 10 years of marriage as it was in the beginning. Really shows what real love is, when people care about each other so much, and then you can look back on some of the "loves" you've had and understand how far it was from love, actually. I can't say enough to praise this move, buy it, you will not be disappointed. Or and a music is beautiful, too, I wish I could buy the soundtrack....
View MoreThe only reason that I didn't fully enjoy the film was the handsome character of Gojoco that was misleading. He seemed to be in love with Gemma that I had the impression it was about 'their' love story and hence was waiting for them to fall in love till the second half of the film. The film keeps getting better with every passing minute till the very the end. "The wierdest love stories are the best" it was said, and I say war stories are the best. It expels our deepest feelings and fears. The poetic title of the film made me wondering about the meaning behind it all through the film. What is it that was born twice? first I thought it was pietro who was thought to be born by two different women. But then, at the end, it was still Pietro but because he was born in two diffferent circumstances. A very lucky war kid indeed.
View MoreIt is a really hard thing to face with all pains that exist in other peoples life, through realistic ways. This movie gives this and hard to move on as because it is not a funny/action movie. Scenes are less detailed and gives you to concentrate story not the artistic things. It is unnecessary to use poetic character at all those movies but producers can not give up this.. Movie shows its power at the end with last dramatic scene. Hard to stay with no tears. It could be more dramatic and fascinating if the suicide scene of the Diego (Emile Hirsc) was the same long but designed different. İf we did't know that he commit suicide, and if we learned it at that scene this part of the movie were shot the viewers. Is one of the best movies about Bosnia&Herzegovia War.
View MoreDeeply touching, thought-provoking and highly emotional, Twice Born explores themes of love and war in a story that depicts the brutal realism of the events that took place in Bosnia in the early 1990s. Penelope Cruz is remarkably captivating in the leading role, as she gives a tremendously tender performance portraying a woman that is reminiscing about her past love and the events that transpired during the Bosnian conflict. The film smoothly switches between the different timelines, and expertly uses poignant twists to create a story that is both romantic and utterly gripping, but above all else has a profound emotional impact of the viewer. Not only is the essence of the story immensely powerful, it is also underpinned by a very moving soundtrack, one that further adds to the intensity of the film, making Twice Born a very emotionally challenging cinematic experience.
