Simply A Masterpiece
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
View MoreThe acting in this movie is really good.
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
View MoreI thought Daybreakers was a great flick so I wanted to see something else the creators made. This was AWFUL. If you like the F-word screamed at the top of everyone's lungs instead of smart dialog, then this is the film for you/sarc.So yes, they certainly improved as film makers if you take this as the first step. The sample-based orchestra score was well done, though!
View More"Mad Max" . . . "Yahoo Serious." Both films demonstrated Australian film-making's love for oddball characters in their movies. With the former, they struck gold; with the latter, they dumped a turd. Guess which category this movie falls down under? So, . . . there are meteorites that smash into people making them zombies . . . oh, and, then, aliens show up . . . and, there's this country-bumpkin guy who apparently has experienced this before and has been preparing for this event (or, these events) . . . and, the aliens are beaming people up into the clouds and putting them into some kind of stasis . . . and, then, the aliens leave and the whole "zombie-thing" starts all over again. Throw into this mishmash of nonsense a bunch of Aussie "oddball" characters. By now, I would have thought, that the Australians would have realized that this type of humor doesn't translate very well anywhere else -- even in the Anglophone world. There's a fine line between "oddball funny" and "oddball stupid and obnoxious." Alas, Aussie comedy is still trying to figure that out.Don't waste your time. Really, . . . don't.
View MoreI have seen dozens of horror movies in the past; Zombies and other sorts of dead people walking, dead people eating others, etc. However, only yesterday (August 23, 2012) I watched this movie (i.e. Undead) on TV for the first time, although it was produced and released in 2003, but honestly I found it very silly and weak in all aspects. The story is flimsy, where you feel that a number of different scenes were glued together, without any reasonable connections, and the performance of most - if not all - characters is hackneyed and not convincing.Probably my words are a bit harsh, nevertheless it's true! But by the end, it's a personal opinion and nothing is personal :-)
View MoreI'm an Australian and recently watched and liked "The Loved Ones" and "Needle".Couldn't watch this one till the end, though - a fact which might not justify a review. But I had enough after half an hour, I even fast forwarded to the "action" SPOILER (Zombies attacking the nerd's house) but overall I was bored out of my mind. 1 star for the efforts. The low-budget charm is nice, and fresh new faces. Still I just couldn't get "hooked".
