A cul-de-sac in an oppressive suburb becomes a literal dead end for wife and mother Karen Christianson when she is brutally murdered in her own home. In the wake of the event, Karen's teenage daughter Ellie begins to exhibit bizarre behaviors as she slowly acquires her mother's demeanor and mannerisms. Meanwhile, Karen's husband Ben nurtures a less-than-innocent interest in the family's sultry live-in nanny, Lena.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

This couldn't have been a Lifetime movie. But it was. This makes two -as far as I know- Lifetime thrillers that are not essentially remakes of every other Lifetime thriller, and are unusually engaging. The reviews above give a good sense of the plot. And some of the irate and morally offended viewers give the quite reliable impression that this is a bent, unconventional and more-than-mildly-incorrect little picture. You don't expect stuff this dark in TV movies, and certainly not on Lifetime. But in this case that's what you get. The sordid plot is not the only virtue of this flick: it's very well put together montage-wise, and in this respect has the look of a good theatrical release. Julia Stiles is, as always, a thoroughly accomplished actor. The other unexpectedly good Lifetime movie to which I refer above is Ladies Night, with a remarkable performance by Paul Michael Glaser.

Found this film very interesting and enjoyed the great acting of Julia Stiles, (Ellie Christianson), "Mona Lisa Smile", who adored her father and never seemed to get along with her mom. However, both parents had other interests outside of the marriage and the story has many unconventional situations created between a daughter and her father. Ellie could identify certain marks on her father's butt that proved very damaging to any adult talking to her. Ellie had a neighbor who lived next door, who was in the process of having a divorce, and had the hots for her every movement and enjoyed driving golf balls into their windows. Things portrayed in this film have happened in real life, ever since man and woman were created and they will continue to be just plain WITCHED !

Though this thriller (about a teenage girl who develops a dangerous crush on her father when her mom dies) has the feel of a cable movie, with few characters and most of the scenes shot in a couple of locations, it was well-acted and had a plot that kept my interest. The characters develop quite effectively and you're never quite sure whodunnit and why, until the end. Worth renting.

I must apologise to anyone who liked this movie but i have to state my thoughts. This has to be the worst movie that there has ever been, the story is lame the acting bad and the cast so lame it is not true. Although there is the good point of Julia the story is somewhat lame in its tracking and the acting would give puppets a bad name. Avoid this movie if you have tase or you like Julia.
