This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
View MoreThe movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
View MoreJust intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
View MoreI watched this show from beginning to end and I am blown away! The first season was moderate and a little bit slow, so I can understand people don't like this show when judging it only from the first few episodes. The seasons that follow give deeper layers to the story. Where the movie stopped at some point, the series takes the story to a whole different level. Although sometimes the different story lines are difficult to follow, and sometimes need a second watch, I can promise you it is worth it. (no spoilers) I loved the ending of the story, and think the writers did a great job to write the ending this show deserves.
View MoreWell based on most of the reviews, my opinion is in the minority, but I thought that Season 1 was by far the best. Subsequent seasons with the Red Forest Cult was nonsense. Stories get convoluted and ridiculous in subsequent seasons. Especially in seasons 3 and 4 they seemed to just make episodes for the purpose of going back in time to specific eras to showcase the Nazis, have Cole dress up like a cowboy in the old West, etc. And the story arch becomes secondary to the comedic attempts. I did like the "Brothers" episode in Season 3. I thought it was particularly well done and the cinematography splendid. Unfortunately, that episode concludes the "bromance" between Cole and Ramse, which I though was the best aspect of the later seasons. And then focus shifts too much on the Cole/Dr. Railly romance. I did enjoy the finale. In fact you can watch season 1, skip seasons 2-4, and watch the finale and you miss nothing of any signicance to the story (the aforementioned "Brothers" episode is worthwhile however).
View MoreFrom the 1st episode to the series finale, 12 Monkeys kept me glued to my TV screen. The cast was brilliant. The way the story was explained was perfect. The highs and lows kept you wanting more. And the ending, oh that ending! I don't think I'll ever cry that much during a series finale as long as I live. I'm rewatching the whole series again as of this review. And I know that won't be the last time either. This is a MUST WATCH series for everybody!
View MoreA 'Predestination Paradox' based action series and just when we were thinking the characters were stuck in a 'Self-fulfilling Prophecies Paradox', with the occasional 'Polchinski's Paradox' thrown in for good measure, they reveal our heroes were trapped in a 'Bootstrap Paradox' (which the Primes knew all along). The only way to save the day and bring the series to a close was a 'let's kill Hitler Paradox' which didn't ring true in Ep 12, but that Ep was tongue in cheek -Jennifer entertaining the NAZIS with a Pink ditty and Cassie in drag as a Dominatrix sporting a cigar and Bren Gun in hand -someone has a NAZI fetish: Kinky! Worthy of a Timeless episode (I loved Timeless disappointed it was canceled) ;o(Final Ep10 flawless and what a tear jerker -i needed a box of tissues! They treated their fan base well. Curious: did Cassie shut it down or were the characters in the Red Forest? I think it was as it appeared, the last jump Cole was thrown out of the loop and it was happy days for everyone. Still if you think about it .... 12 Monkeys ended at the right time, the series is a gem. I'd watch it again.
