This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

Thanks to the Sci-Fi Channel's 8-hour daily marathons, I have been catching up on old shows, including First Wave. Sad to say, I am now on the third and final year of the show, and I have not enjoyed the ride. First Wave reminds me of the X-Files, minus the talented actors, skilled writers, or interesting stories (they're boring). I *tried* to like the show, but my mind kept wandering, because the stories were dull.I notice from other comments, people became "addicted" to the show's continuing storyline, and kept tuning in each week to see what came next. That's fine, but there are better shows to get addicted to. These shows also feature continuing story lines, but with much deeper plot lines:The New Galactica Star Trek DS9 Babylon 5I would watch these first, and ignore First Wave.troy

I saw the first ten or so episodes, and in the beginning the show seemed very promising. But after a few episodes it got too repetitive, and the danger looming ahead (the invasion) just continued to loom ahead, wihtout really making any impact on the story. After a while, it all got too repetitive, and the story was going nowhere. While the first few episodes were both suspenseful, intriguing and revealing, after a while they just continued to do the same thing that worked then over and over, which ultimately just became boring. Maybe it's unfair judging a show by the first few episodes, but when they become so lacking that you have no desire to watch the next one, something is clearly not done right.

"First Wave" is outstanding, passionate sci-fi action drama. This is a show that lives in real time, a show that is intelligent and full of raw emotion. The performances are never flat. "First Wave" is a sci-fi show that is imaginative while at the same time being very down-to-earth. In a way their reality is much like ours. While the Gua, an alien race that are both highly intelligent and extremely ruthless quietly prepares to conquer and destroy, humanity in general (with the exception of Cade, Ed, and Jordan) still don't believe in aliens at all, pretty good premise.For me this is not a show, it is an addiction. I became hooked on the very first episode and have been watching and videotaping it religiously ever since. I especially like the growing chemistry between Spence and Lords as they square off against the alien Antichrist Mabus, a deliciously evil character I might add. This show is certainly recommended.

I tried to like this show but it is just that lame. I hate to be the fly in the ointment but this show just does not cut it. The lead actors cannot act even a little. Honest to goodness Traci Lords never, ever changes her facial expressions, even a little. I have seen her in this and in several of her post-porn movies and I wonder if she is physically capable of anything but one single stone faced look. Sebastian Spence is no better, he is a total blank slate who tries to look intense, Rob Labelle adds a one dimensional note a hyper computer geek. The show is the most unoriginal I have ever seen. The premise is a combination of the 60's The Invaders and the Fugitive. Characters, plots of episodes, etc are all derivitative. You can watch every episode and say "They got that from the X-Files" and "That's from Star Wars" throughout the entire show. Every show. Like I said I tried to like this show but hey a little originality goes a long way. tag
