Fantastic!
This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
View MoreThis is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
View MoreIt’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
View MoreI absoloutely love this show. All the history of the places they visit are also why I love this show. I wish they could do more series and they were easy to purchase on DVD in the UK.
View MoreI think this show succeeds for the same reason that the great religions do: if it was more convincing people would be suspicious. It is either brilliantly thought out and executed to be so appalling boring and unconvincing or its just a happy accident. The fact that its totally absurd strangely attracts people to choose to believe in it.Its amazing that these clowns are being paid to make television when they are so absurdly bad at it. The entertainment value is even worse than the 'evidence'. If you're going to fake ghost footage at least make it interesting. When you have to subtitle the audio it means that its really not saying anything, its just random noise.
View MoreI liked this show when it first appeared but over the years it has gone downhill and is now not worth watching. I think the reason I liked it at first was because they seemed quite honest and sometimes said they had found nothing at all. They also don't use mediums unlike most other similar shows. There were a few bits of the early shows that seemed questionable. Grant is clearly a pretty pushy guy and him speaking to other cast members like crap seemed to be something they wanted to highlight for the purposes of drama. I didn't really like that angle. Then there is the whole issue of repetition. They talk to someone. Grant then tells you that he spoke to someone. Then another cast member then sums that up. This is not taking into account all the repeated information you get because of the advert breaks. You also get a sound track over the entire investigation which makes it seem like something is happening. For me though I started to lose interest after watching their live investigation where a recorded voice growled "You're not supposed to be here!" twice. To anyone impartial that was clearly a recorded voice. Since then every show I've seen has had Brett saying "did you see that?" and of course, we didn't. Off he runs to investigate but alas, despite this happening nearly every episode he's not wearing a headcam or anything so every week golden evidence of the paranormal is lost. You'll just have to take his word for it I suppose.I think this show started off quite well but turned to pure rubbish. I see it is now officially described as a docu-soap, sounds about right to me.
View MoreSeason One 82/100- Way better than I thought the show would be, at least after the original ten episodes. Although I've heard complaints that the later seasons might be faked or staged, I got none of the feelings in the first season. I love TAPS approach of trying to debunk hauntings rather than try and prove them. This gives the show credibility that is often lacking in this line of work. In fact, over half of the location TAPS visits found no evidence or was deemed not haunted.Even those who don't like the show have to appreciate the concept of two plumbers who become paranormal investigators by night. The show is grounded, and you really see both Jason and Grant doing there best to collect evidence with a small budget that limits their headquarters to a trailer and limits their traveling (the farthest west they went from their home in Warwick, RI was Pittsburgh). The show really does work as a docu-reality show as well as a ghost hunt. The supporting team players for TAPS are numerous and interchangeable. The only other members that appear regularly and have a defined personality are Brian and Steve and to a lesser extent Donna and Andy. Brian in particular has been developed as the whipping boy of the show which both helps and hurts the show, although often there's reason to back up his bullying.Appreciate the team throwing out useless evidence such as orbs, but would have liked to see them go further into the history of the buildings they are investigating while showing previous evidence at that location. Considering Jason and Grant are lead investigators, I want to see them having a bigger part collecting evidence during the cases. Major evidence TAPS collected were EVPs in the Altoona and Albany, the moving chair at New London's Race Rock Lighthouse, the cloaked figure stalking Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary, and the cameraman attacked at the armory in New Bedford by an unknown entity.
