Excellent, smart action film.
It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
View MoreThere's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
View MoreThe movie really just wants to entertain people.
I like the hosts. The guests acting so hardened on their position is a bit forced.
View MoreI like the show. Well, rather I should say I DO like the following: 1.David. He's the best part of the show 2.When they show homes for sale in the U.S. (Those dingy, expensive, urban Canadian neighborhoods all look the same, and are all so incredibly ugly to look at) 3.I like the before and after concept ...(however, the reveals have all started to look the same) What I DON'T Like: Does anyone EVER inspect the properties before renovating? Why in the world do they always say "This MUST be done" to a repair that the owner can always do another time at a later date to save on their budget?????? {MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION} ***If Fixer Upper's, Chuck and Jo or Flip or Flops's, Tarek & Christina or The Property Brothers can TOTALLY renovate a WHOLE ENTIRE house anywhere from $45,000-$ 100,000 ~Why in the world can't Hillary get just 2 or 3 rooms done for that SAME $45,000-$100,000??!! And without imposing or exploiting some major crisis in every single episode? ~If it were my home, and Hillary comes to me saying, "your HVAC is outdated and on the brink, so this MUST get fixed, so I'm taking the guest bedroom off the list", I would respond, "I can do this at a later date, and just focus on the renos we discussed!" Hillary's work always seems cosmetically super-staged, vs. real, structural differences as well. {Did I mention the use of the same grey couch used in almost every episode?} Dear Canadian contractors, (Fergus and Eddy) PLEASE stop your WHINING every time something needs fixing! ( isn't this your job??...) I prefer the American crew MUCH better..Or here's another... How about NOT USING PREMIUM DECOR MATERIALS (i.e.: Quartz countertops, Viking Stoves/Ranges) to save some money to make these poor people's homes more functional and nice???? Since when is Maytag or Kitchen Aid, or similar not worth using at half the price?? ~ Hillary uses the MOST EXPENSIVE stuff she can find all the time. I'm not saying use cheap, but come on!!! {I've seen some beautiful compromises on Flip or Flop} I just don't always see the "value" in the work. Seems like the contractors and Hillary come out on the longer end of the stick -a lot. I feel bad for the folks who don't always get what they pay for. David, I love you, ~you're hilarious! Probably the top reason I watch the show, because honestly, the project reveals are usually underwhelming and always look the same. ~how about that reappearing grey sofa?I don't even like Jillian Harris one bit, her design aesthetic is awful, and she hardly does any significant work whatsoever, and she's just plain annoying. Nope, ~Love it or List it, Too can go...
View MoreThis shows is entertaining to see Hilary fix-up the house, and David show them new houses, but this is just ridiculous. 99% of the time they choose love it, because of the decor and paint, and Hilary barely even changes what they want, she just decorates the home, to make it look appealing. There hasn't been one episode i've seen where the family picks list it, also the cheesy, fake arguing of David and Hilary doesn't make the show any more enjoyable. Pros: The fixing and searching for the homes, slightly entertainingCons:Way Too Predictable, Seems Too Fake, Same Result Every Episode/ Every Episode is basically the same, (same plot)
View MoreSpoiler? I do like the show for the most part... but there is definitely a few things that just bother me. Why does it have to be such a competition? Hilary tries to make their space a little easier for their new lifestyle and save them the trouble moving if they don't have to and David finds them another home for what would make them happier if they just cannot stay in their current home. What does one get out of their choice? Bragging rights? Why is that important? It should be about making the homeowners happy in the end.Nonetheless, I realized later its bc it brings more viewers in for a little drama... but WHY do some of these homeowners treat them like dirt???? I get that one wants to move and the other doesn't, but Hilary and David are both there to try to help them! The episode I'm currently watching just has me shaking my head when the woman says "I'm not talking to Hilary anymore" and speaks to her with such disrespect. Like why? Seems immature... Hilary is helping them. How can it possibly be her fault when things with either the foundation, plumbing, or wiring issues come up as a major issue and eat a chunk of their budget? If its an older home, what do you expect? Then they get nasty toward her for not getting that and EVERYTHING else (most being ridiculous requests for their budget) they asked for.Which brings me how naïve these homeowners are... they act like their money is gold. You give her an unlimited amount of money and she'll give you what you asked for if its possible... but to think your gonna get a full renovation for the entire house, fix any issues, add a bedroom, add a bathroom, furnish basement, brand new kitchen, knock down walls for open spaces, etc. all for a budget under 100K is completely absurd. If you honestly need ALL of that, why renovate in the first place? Wouldn't it just be easier to move somewhere that offers it all or less and then just renovate 1 or 2 things? I just don't understand why they act ridiculous when they cant get every little thing, like children throwing a tantrum. Life is full of compromises and in the end it should be about what's better for your family. Cant always get everything you want with set limitations.Added to that is when the spouses treat each other poorly... why cant they both be open minded and respect eachothers opinions/feelings? They did agree for David and Hilary to come out in the first place... and not to mention you're on TV.. I don't get why some of them act like children.
