Married at First Sight: The First Year Audience Reviews

BlazeLime Strong and Moving!
Ogosmith Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Clarissa Mora The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
Cristal The movie really just wants to entertain people.
Claudia Friedman I had high hopes for this show. I loved Arranged (another show on arranged marriages from FYI) so I decided to try Married at First Sight, First Year. Yuck, what tripe!! When it doesn't seem like one big commercial promoting their upcoming celebrities (e.g. Monet now is the featured star for FYI's Black Love), it just is shallow and boring. You get sick of all the psycho-babble in between the hyped up drama of their problems. Even more annoying is their grand display of love -- watching them kiss all the time and talk about how wonderful their relationships are. Yawn.... What makes this show so boring compared to Arranged is that it is fake / scripted. If you want to watch a show on arranged marriages, stick with Arranged. These couples really care about each other and world around them. Their lives are interesting, their problems are real, and their love genuine. Otherwise, you can waste the next 10 hours of your life watching selfish people do and say anything to be the next big TV celebrity.
