Am I Missing Something?
Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
View MoreLet me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
View MoreShow has departed from what made it interesting and enjoyable. I quit watching for a few months because I did not care about having so much "chum" shoved down my throat. I do like hearing the history on rare items brought in to be pawned. It appears a lot of the deals are never intended to be finalize. Drop the dumb play acting. Reality TV has that covered already. Fast forward through the painful tired setup skits and go to the buying/selling. Saves you about 10-13 minutes of your time. Afterall, time is money....and Rick, go get a manni, your fingers look like you practice proctology without gloves. Really 10 lines before this gets submitted. Less is more, as in this show.
View MorePawn Stars is the most excellent show in the entire world. Every episode guarantee hard laughs and Rick's special friends coming to value an item. I cannot describe the joy this show brings me especially when Rick rips off customers for purchasing items well below the retail value. ChumLee is the real star of the show and the old man only holds him back stop Chum from purchasing items in the millions so he can make the store big bucks. The shows main competitor is hardcore pawn which is just a absolute flop to the heroics of ChumLee and the gang. The show is great and will always keep you wondering what happens when Rick sends you off to get written up by ChumLee.
View MoreBeen a fan of the show since the first series. Corey and Rick seem good guys and good luck to them. I don't understand why Chumlee is some kind of hero in America. He isn't funny- and he pretends to be dumb like Paris Hilton (albeit with slightly more facial hair) but spoils the show. Would be better if Chum went- Rick and Corey would do the selling and the Old Man would complain in-between. Chum, the scripted story and constant laughing at stuff that isn't funny are the downsides to the show. Would be much better if the staff didn't pretend they were working and produced a show where they come out of the back for great items only...we know they don't work on the shop floor off camera and it's insulting that they still carry on the pretense after all these years. I have been to the shop - very poor touristy style attraction...not a pawn shop as such. Just cashing in on the T-Shirts and other low quality merchandise. Don't go to Vegas just to visit there - you'll regret it.
View MoreThat the timing is way off suggest quite a lot. First of all I really have doubts that the "Old Man" opened up the store 60 years prior to your writing. This would make him about thirteen years old when he opened the store with twenty years in the US Navy under his belt first. Or perhaps he has just aged a lot since he got out of the Navy. From what I gathered, from a commentary he made in one of the shows, I got the feeling that "Rick" came along when he had established the business for about four years. I believe that the "Old Man" is about 74 or getting close to it.Making a stab at the shops age, I would say it was established+/- thirty five years ago, no where near sixty.
