one of my absolute favorites!

Tockinit

not horrible nor great

Protraph

Lack of good storyline.

Sarita Rafferty

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Freddy comes back more intimidating than ever! This movie moves along pretty slowly but still has some major fan service. In fact, Freddy's body count reaches double digits in this film. However, the main school plot is terribly dull, Freddy's possession of main character, Jesse doesn't make sense, and Freddy gets killed off in a very underwhelming fashion. In addition, this movie has a whole lot of homoerotic subtext that is very blatant and sometimes even distracting. Overall, great for horror fans but not so great for everyone else.

The "Nightmare On Elm Street" franchise can be hit or miss. Some entries in the franchise work, while others fall flat on their face. This is one that kind of falls in between , even though most fans will readily admit that this isn't one of their favorites. Much has been made about this movies homoerotic undertones, and most involved with the movie will say that they didn't realize this until much, much later. I mean, how can't you realize this when Freddy tells a young teenage boy that he wants to use him for his body, and a high school gym teacher is found in a bar wearing leather S&M gear? But i don't really think any of that is why most fans don't really like this movie. The truth is, it just isn't all that good, and that's the main reason why its one of the weaker chapters in the series

This movie was just okay, not great, not bad.First, the pros, the beginning,it was suspenseful and very creative.I like the fact that they tried to be different with the gay undertones,it really sets the film apart from the other sequels, and makes the main character more interesting. All of the stupid moments give the film a "so bad it's good" feeling, and make it highly entertaining. The characters are decently developed, the main character, played by Mark Patton is especially well acted.I thought the story was decent, there were some cool scenes and the effects were good. The best thing though,Robert Englund,he is still very dark and sinister. Now,the cons,I felt that the ending was very generic, and anticlimactic. The scares, they were very stupid and ridiculous(but hilarious).I feel like there wasn't enough kills or Freddy,in the first movie,it didn't matter, but here,it did.The worst part though, the tone,it tries to be serious at times, but the movie feels like an 80s sitcom.Nightmare 2 is better than others in the franchise, but not the best.

A teenage boy is haunted in his dreams by Freddy Krueger who is out to possess him in order to continue his murder spree in the real world. The problem for me with Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge except the obvious cheesy dumb moments was all those sexual hints from Jesse to Freddy and others quotes like "He's inside me, and he wants to take me again" or even "Something is trying to get inside my body" but that's the least of it's problems the biggest of it was even all those nudity dumb moments like spank one teacher and then kill him? what's up with that? It's really disappointing when the first film was so good and this one is just a mess.
