Far from Perfect, Far from Terrible
An absolute waste of money
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
View MoreThe storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
View MoreA group of hotheaded street racers are on their way to the Road Rally 1000. As they drive through a desolate shortcut on the way to the race, a man starts tracking, teasing and torturing them until the end of the road. Joy Ride 3: Road Kill is the same exact terrible sequel that the 2nd film was and way far from the first one as possible as it seems since it was quite the stupid that i shouldn't expect or should i? The acting, script, characters and pretty much everyone was just awful in this movie and especially the horror part was over the top. (0/10)
View MoreYour average slasher-horror movie. That is, pretty bad...A bunch of twenty-somethings are driving to Canada to get to a (Nascar- type) race. They annoy a truck driver who then gets his revenge in rather sadistic ways...Just from that summary you'll know this movie is hardly original. The highway scenes are derivative of Duel, and just about every highway- confrontation movie since then. The latter half of the movie is pretty much just Saw (or one of its zillion sequels). So nothing new, and just more sadistic violence for the sake of it. Weak story, paint-by-numbers direction.Avoid.
View MoreI enjoyed the first two "Joy Ride" movies, so I was definitely up to watching the third one when it came my way. But I found this entry to be somewhat unsatisfying. Now, I will admit it's far from the worst direct to DVD movie I've seen. It's not boring, the production values are okay (if somewhat restrained at times), and there is some serious splatter here and there. But something prevented me from enjoying what I saw. It may be that it takes a long time to get going after the admittedly wild pre-credits sequence. It may be because the youthful protagonists were annoying and lacking real personality. It may be because there are some confusing moments in the story. It may be because Rusty Nail in this entry seems more of a mindless psychopath instead of the scarily intelligent brute of the first two movies. It may be because the movie gives us several looks at Rusty Nail's face instead of hiding it like the first two movies. It may be because the atmosphere for the most part feels workman-like instead of building terror as it goes along. Whatever the reason(s) may be, I found it hard to sit back and enjoy what I was watching. If they make a "Joy Ride 4", I will give it a chance, but I'll be hoping the filmmakers will have learned from their mistakes from this one.
View MoreA group of young car racing enthusiasts are on their way to enter their car into a race in Canada, and after stopping for a bite to eat and to ask for some directions, they decide to take a route that is known as Slaughter Alley (after being warned not to, of course). It's here that one of the racers decides to toy about with a truck driver, but that, as they soon find out, was a mistake. What was supposed to be a non-eventful road trip has now turned into a deadly cat-and-mouse game for survival. This will be a pretty short review because in all honesty there isn't much to write about Joy Ride 3. The first film was a good, tense thriller with a good cast. Joy Ride 2 wasn't a patch on the first movie but it was still a watchable film. This one however, well, let's just be polite and say it's gone to the opposite end of Joy Ride. There is plenty of gore but not much of a storyline, so at least the splatter fans might get something out of the movie. There's the usual casting of stereotypical characters as well....street racer jock types along with their stick insect scream queen girlfriends, and of course the now indestructible serial killer, Rusty Nail. This only JUST made it into a 3-star rating for me purely because some of the scenes are not too bad. Well, that and I never lost the will to live while watching the movie. It's watchable but only just barely.
