King of the Zombies Trailers

During World War II, a small plane somewhere over the Caribbean runs low on fuel and is blown off course by a storm. Guided by a faint radio signal, they crash-land on an island. The passenger, his manservant and the pilot take refuge in a mansion owned by a doctor. The quick-witted yet easily-frightened manservant soon becomes convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies and ghosts.

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

King of the Zombies, is a comical piece; in the long list of classic horror film. The opening score, in the sounds of tribal drumming; gives the film an adventure theme. The mood of the film, is that of a mysterious island. The continually playing drums, hint at the presence of black magic: voodoo. The movie plays out similarly to that of an Abbot and Costello movie. The story is a little slow moving, but the combination of humor and mystery; makes the film worth watching. The gathered cast, is worth many a respects even today. King of the Zombies, may not actually be classic horror, but it is a good movie, and is not your average every day zombie film.

This is a very scary movie. It is scarier then The Shinning and that is not easy to do. This movie has a great story line. It also has great acting. It also has great special effects. 5.3 is a good ratting. But this is such a great film that 5.3 is underrating. I give it a 9. I is very scary. This is scarier then A Nightmare on elm street and that is not easy to do. This is scarier then Friday the 13th V a new beginning and that is not easy to do. This is scarier then Halloween resurrection ever could be. This is scarier then Hellbound Hellrasier II and that is not easy to do. This about people trapped on an Island with zombies and a zombie cult the raised then. It is one of the scariest movies of all time see it.

A mysterious island, a mysterious doctor living in a mysterious old house with mysterious people. Three men in a plane crash land on this island and the mystery thickens. Dark, forbidding and ominous. And everyone in the cast of this dark tale plays it straight, except for Mantan Moreland.Often classified as a horror film, Mantan Moreland puts on a bravura performance, turning this dark and forbidding tale into pure satire. Yes, he is relegated to the scared of everything role just like Stepin Fetchit. This is 1941, after all. And this a low budget, cheesy production. But his comedic talents are brilliant and make this film worth watching which, if he were not in the film, would be a forgotten throwaway.I tend to like very old films, and this is a real antique. But age alone does not make it good. There was a good deal of trash produced in the old days, just like today. But when you have a gem like this, it is worth preserving and watching repeatedly after a suitable time. And I believe you can download this from the Internet Archive since it appears to have fallen into the public domain. Very funny and great fun. I give it an 8.

The best thing about this movie is Mantan Moreland. The plot is silly but that's okay because everybody involved with it surely knew it was silly as did the audience – but it was also fun. Our two heroes with their man servant (of course that has to be Moreland) are forced to land on a spooky island. They are searching a for a missing admiral. There are two especially funny lines – although for different reasons because one was meant to be funny and one was not. Upon hearing voodoo drums, Moreland says to his confederate who asked what that sound was replied that: "It sure ain't Gene Krupa." The second funny scene is when Purcell, while in a zombie-like state, is shot up close five times by the bad guy. When Purcell is recovering (?), the doctor says "Those bullets sure didn't do him any good." Purcell and Archer did fine in this movie as did Joan Woodbury – a much underrated actress. But Moreland had all the best lines. This little movie is very entertaining and I know I'll be watching it again.
