A group of young party adults at a disco decide to have a weekend after party at Eve's (Roxane Mesquida) country home. Bart (Olivier Barthelemy) is the obnoxious one in the group and doesn't fit in. At the home we meet Josef (Vincent Cassel) a half-wit caretaker who always has an idiot's smile on his face. He likes Bart. They have an interesting dinner and then...At dinner we discover Sheitan means devil. There is a low level religious discussion and Josef explains what could be the plot, leaving out the creepy dolls. He keeps us engaged in the film, not knowing if he is the antagonist or protagonist considering the group. The group is supposed to be out partying on Christmas Eve, and then the next night at the manor is also Christmas Eve. I just went with it.The film is in French with English or Spanish subtitles.Guide: F-word. Groping. Nudity (male/female)

I watched the French horror film Satan(Sheitan) last night and i thought that it was a very good horror film. It is about a man called Bart who is always causing trouble, and his friends, Thaï and Ladj. while they are in the Styxx Club in Paris on Christmas Eve, they meet the bartender Yasmine and on of her customers called Bart gets himself into a fight in the nightclub, with another man. Eve decides to invite the group to go to her house in the country. While they are on the road near the cottage, they are introduced to the weird shepherd and housekeeper, Joseph, whose wife is pregnant. Joseph seems to get attracted to Bart, and his behaviour becomes disturbing towards him. What the three men do not realise is that they have been brought there for a reason. I thought that this was a very good horror film but some of the senses were quite disturbing in parts. 7/10

Oh dear. I know democracy is good, is something positive even if not perfect. Nevertheless, when I see here all the shinning comments about this abnormal movie I just want to putsh over IMDb and play Pinochet for a while until all those stars are wiped out for good.Cassel, Cassel, Cassel... not even your genius, not even your brilliant performance can save this aberration. Why to take part in such a stupid project? Please, I want to know why??? I demand to know! Absolutely below all B movie standards. They probably thought "let's mix Cassel with some pretty faces and asses and with some crazy directing moves and we got ourselves a movie". Instead, what Kim Chapiron got was something to throw in the nearest trash bin. What he got was a complete failure, a mess without plot, without actors, without ideas, without consistence. What he did was to copy the traditional teen horror movie already seen ten thousand times before, arrange some fancy scenarios with lots of dolls, kidnap Bellucci until Cassel agreed to jump into the project and VOILÁ! You got yourself the bullshit movie of the year.Avoid this movie with all your strengths, even if you adore Cassel, like me.

Man, this was fun. It is very predictable, but still hilarious. I would hardly call this horror, since it never really tries to be scary. For the most part, it tries to be weird and funny. With a couple of other recent French flicks in mind I'm beginning to think that French people living in cities have even worse an image of their country folk than American metropolitans have of theirs. The predictability is stupid though. Same as with "Haute Tension" the film basically tells you how it's gonna end. HT tells you right in the beginning, Sheitan tells you half-way through. French movie makers seem to wanna create the Anti-Twist-Ending.This really is the French Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Only less massacre.
