What makes it different from others?
Brilliant and touching
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
View MoreSurprisingly cold satire with too much empty dialog, but you must really appreciate the attitude: the message is against the feel-good-romances as well as against the gender-politics. If you feel betrayed just because Rachel W says everything you loved was actually art and performance under construction, the film was worth of seeing. And you should note that the "art gallery" in the end of the film has nothing to do with art itself... the meaning of this metaphorical place you can decide yourself. It may not be a good example of play adaptation, but there really should be more films like this with good self- consciousness, and also more actors like Rachel W who understand the point of irony.
View MoreThis was one of the best films I've seen in my life. I loved every moment of it. I really had no idea where the journey would end (as all journeys must) but it went in such a different direction than I originally thought. I love the literary allusions (which so subtly hint at what's to come) and I love the relationships that are built. This film felt more real to me than anything I've seen released in many years. The transformation of Paul Rudd's character (and indeed Paul Rudd himself) was startling, and Rachel Weisz was, as always, brilliant.I suddenly have a strong urge to perform in the stage version. Evelyn must be such a fun character to play!
View MoreI usually try to see a point in every movie. There are very few movies that have made me think 'What's the point?' right after the movie. The Shape of things is the most recent one among such movies. The movie glorifies a near psychopath's exploitation of an insecure guy. I think the fact that Neil LaBute is a great director cannot justify the meaninglessness of this movie. I was so frustrated and irritated and angry after watching the movie that I created an IMDb account for myself and wrote this review. If irritating or frustrating the audience is the point of the director, then he definitely succeeded. If you are a stone or if you can be indifferent to a movie then go ahead and watch it. If not I wouldn't recommend this.
View MoreRachel shocked the heck out of me when she turned the whole story around and humiliated that poor man..i almost wanted to cry but then i almost wanted to do the same thing to my bf...hahah THe movie itself is funny an sad and deals with risking everything you have for love, which may seem like the right thing to do at the moment but when it really comes down to it, you've probably made the wrong choice...if you chose the girl or the boy over your friends...This movie makes you want to jump up after Rachel the artist flips you off with both fingers...i was actually scared she might actually jump out of the TV and said FOol You..EVeryone should watch this movie when they are feeling angry at their girlfriend or boyfriend...
