A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Theo is an average garden snail but unlike his buddies who make fun of him all the time, he has big dreams of overcoming his condition and become a racer. As unlikely as it sounds, after an accident where he gets infected with nitrous oxide, he gains some very special powers, car powers that is: lights, radio, reverse beeps, the lot, but above all, SPEED! And what is he going to do with it you might ask...well, race of course, but not just anywhere, no sir, in the Indy 500!!! With the help of his new snail and human crew, he's going to give his best shot to win the most prestigious race of all. It's an intriguing story, although a bit over-exaggerated (even for animation standards), which features the great adventures of Turbo, the racing snail, from his humble but harsh beginnings till the moments he truly becomes famous, thus fulfilling his lifetime dream. I truly love this film's animation and its style, not to mention its great music, but its story isn't going to blow your mind, not even close. It's a very good movie but it is certainly left behind by masterpieces like Cars, Brave and others.

Another animated film with the theme of resisting tradition and the norm, finding out who you really are, and pursuing your dream. Interesting to see the garden snail's view on life, and the opposition from the snails is completely understandable -- snails are born, they are inherently made, very slow. Many times we are bound to harsh reality, and thus cannot go beyond. The Mexican guy's pretty cool, the music (kudos to Henry Jackman) is invigorating, and the electric blue trail left by Turbo is just sweet.I love how Disney, DreamWorks, and the like depict the worlds of those we cannot understand -- Wreck-It Ralph brought us the world behind arcade games, The Lego Movie showed us the world of LEGO, Toy Story that of toys, etc. Turbo shows you the world of garden snails.

Why is everybody hating on Turbo and his big dreams. This movie is inspiring and has enough charm and cheekiness to keep you enthralled. I also really love the rich bright colours of the animation. It's incredibly beautiful.Maybe I was seeing something that others could not but I throughly enjoyed this movie. It was a mix between Cars and The Fast and the Furious. What's not to love. Instead of car racers with attitude you have snails. They may have been little mollusks but they had big spirits and personalities. The voice cast makes it even better and there's some impressive star power behind the characters. But what do I know, I was too busy enjoying the movie to overanalyse it.

If you're stuck in with Man-Flu & just want an easy going fun loving number that'll make you laugh.. this is the first across the line! The Animation is no where as breath taking as Pixar of course but it's still FULL of vibrant colour & cool effects! The characters & the voice actors fit like a snail's shell! And the story doesn't do anything too clever-dick! They keep it pure, simple, enjoyable & fun.One thing I especially loved about this film is the mixed cultures. It really adds such depth when the characters are your typical white conservative types! ALL the cast members worked overtime to get this off the ground! It does have a more serious moral at heart, but it's never intrusive & the pace of the film is maintained throughout.I was surprised at how enjoyable this film was, & I recommend it for the whole family!
