Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Watch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

If I had a dollar for every chance I've given this show, I'd be a millionaire. I've tried watching the reruns on T.V. many times, but could never make it through an entire episode without getting bored or annoyed. When I actually did finally make it through a full episode, it felt like an entire hour rather than 21-24 minutes. Every joke and line are just painful to watch, most of the time you already know what they will say before they say it. The most I've ever laughed to this show was when the kids read "The Angry Family" poem. The reason this made me laugh was because it was true. The grownups were very loud, and it hurt the kids ears, not to mention the watcher. I've been able to find a few clips of this show here and there that were kind of funny in a relatable kind of way, but nothing that made me understand why people love this show so much. The only character who is likable and not downright annoying is Robert. If it was the Robert show instead of Raymond, maybe I could watch it, but the main characters make it impossible to watch for longer than 5 minutes without going insane. Ray is a whiny, annoying, fumbling idiotic manchild who is married to the bitchiest, most useless wife in TV history. His parents are also annoying, his mom is always invading people's privacy and making rude comments on the way other people live their lives, and Ray's dad Frank offers nothing except a few off-topic comments here and there. In short, terrible characters make an already very mediocre show all the more cancerous and unwatchable. The only people who can relate or laugh to this kind of stuff are people with awful lives who are living in terrible marriages. I would recommend that if anyone's marriage is at all similar to Ray and Debra's, that they get a divorce this minute. And even if you were living that life, how is it funny? When you already live an awful life, why would you want to watch someone else living the same awful life on TV? I always thought TV (especially sitcoms) were supposed to be an escape, so if you are living a crappy life you can watch something more desirable to get your mind off of your own horrible life.

many motifs are pieces of pledge for this series. first - its realist, humor and the way to do a powerful sweet-bitter story about family. than - Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle doing an admirable couple. not the least, the grow up of Ray . because, prisoner of the "jail" who is his family,he becomes, episode by episode, a nice presence, looking for balance between wife, brother and parents. and this does the series more than one from others but a perfect show about every day ordinaries challenges. so, a special series.

I have never understood how a person that is so insulting, demeaning, controlling and overall un-likable makes for enjoyable television. Ray's mother Marie is so unbearable to watch, her constant dehumanizing of Debra makes you wonder why in the hell she would ever marry into the family. Ray is self-absorbed, egomaniacal and incredibly selfish. He never defends Debra and always bows down to his manipulative mother. Ray would rather play golf or watch T.V than interact with his wife or children. Ray's brother Robert is consistently treated like dirt by his Mother, Father and Brother. He occasionally stands up for himself but quickly buckles. Ray's wife Debra is the only character I like. She has no problem voicing her opinion but she often goes unheard. The worst thing about Debra is the fact that she backs down from confrontation very fast. Ray's father has his moments but overall is sexiest, loud, cowardly and insulting. He does how ever (rarely) defend Debra against Marie. This show does have a lot of very funny moments but the characters make it to rage inducing and leaves you wondering what Debra sees in Ray. Every comedy has and unbearable character, unfortunately this show has many.

whats wrong with all you people that hate this show? I only got into this show well after it ended but the more I watched it,the more I loved it.its really very funny.its as good as any sitcom ever made.i watch a lot of sitcoms and on a whole, they are great.i didn't give this show 10 only because no show is perfect.sure,I agree the jokes can be a bit repetitive but what show isn't repetitive? I really don't think the people on here that hate it have seen much of this show.you need to see at least 10 to 20 episodes before you really get into it and understand what's going on.its easy to write it off if you've seen only a few episodes.as for king of queens being better, you have to kidding.i like king of queens but it's just nowhere near as funny in my opinion.1 reviewer even criticized step by step and some other great shows.i think that person needs help.there is no need for me to describe the plot and every character as its been done many times in other reviews.remember, give this show a chance.you will like it.in fact,I even hated it at the start.that just goes to show what I'm saying is right
