brilliant actors, brilliant editing
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
View MoreIf you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
View MoreThe movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
View MoreGreat show. Great characters. Heart and funny. Jim playing himself. Always loved Jim 's comedy
View MoreIf you've never saw or heard any of Jim Jefferies' stand up comedy, you are really in for a treat. If your a fan of Jim's already, you may know some of the stories but it is more than worth it to watch the stories come to life. The first season is scattered with stories that the avid JJ fan will know well, but Jim's writing transfers to the small screen so well, you'll find yourself laughing as if its all new material. The second season really found its identity and seems to have gotten cancelled right when it was finding its audience. (Due in part to the show's move to the hard to find *In Canada* FXX channel). I truly believe if this show had a little more time a la "It's Always Sunny" the show very well would have developed a cult following of its own. Make sure to watch it on Netflix and rate it as you see fit, and if you like it, please join the other fans in tweeting out to Jim and FX #Bring Back Legit
View More...and this show hits a fairly consistent stride of humor. It begins to rely less on Jim's established jokes from his stand-up. The episodes aren't constantly hilarious, but certain scenes in every episode get me howling with laughter. Jim is an easy guy to watch, and DJ Qualls is great as Jim's quadriplegic friend, who provides a lot of the heart of Legit. Do not listen to Mick S's review. Anyone who believes that Jim Jefferies' stand-up relies solely on shock value and is completely void of intelligent wit is truly an idiot. And I suppose Louis CK only tells gay jokes, right? Also, do not listen to Jbond's. Letting one joke in one episode ruin a whole show for you is childish and bull-headed. Jfpoitras is king of the idiots, however. Two episodes in and you write the show off. Then you rush down to IMDb to tell everyone about your quarter-baked opinion? Good God, not every show has to hook you from the pilot, you monkey. Scrubs was atrocious during the beginning of season one. Then it hit a stride and finally became funny. If you only watched the pilot, you'd think it's the dumbest show ever made. I have hope for this show. I wish it was on regular FX, but I'm grateful to see it on Netflix. Hopefully season 2 does even better and features even more great guest stars. I couldn't be happier that Jim Jefferies has a show. I feel as proud as Gunther.
View More'Legit' is a show that literally has something to offend everyone. No sacred cow is left unslaughtered: the disabled, women, obesity, sex, love, honor, trust... you name it. There's no pulling back, no flinching. If you can't handle that - or don't want to - fair enough. There are hordes of toothless sitcoms carefully designed to lull you back into a somnolent feeling of security. But if you're willing to go outside your comfort zone - WAY outside - 'Legit' is as funny as it gets. Like Jim Jeffries' standup comedy, the series tackles subjects too unthinkable for the most sensitive video drama... and makes them the butt of merciless full-on ridicule. The result is screamingly, painfully, disgustingly hilarious. The only show I can think of to rival it is the Scottish masterpiece 'Still Game,' which takes aging, poverty, death, hopelessness and petty malice as the basis of its own crude and very true-to-life humor.Check the reviews on this site. You'll see a bunch of 10/10 ratings, and a few 0/10. That's exactly what the creators were shooting for. 'Legit' would be a failure if NO ONE was revolted and enraged. Jeffries' contends (seriously or not) that absolutely ANYTHING is a 'legitimate' subject for humor. He forces us to justify our objections... And makes us realize that it's NOT a trivial exercise. With 'Legit,' Jeffries scrapes the civilized veneer off some very painful truths. You can accept them and laugh, or deny them and be offended... but he makes it very hard to escape them unscathed.
