Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
One of the best films i have seen
A Disappointing Continuation
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
View MoreFirst, I was seduced by subject. than, by the performance of Patricia Arquette. it is a serie about provocative theme but real exploring every day realities. that does it different. and special. the image of the bridge between us and the dead people is far to be original but, in this case, its use is more than inspired. because it is so simple to discover an ordinary wife and mother , with a special gift, fighting for truth and family and fundamental answers . short, a fascinating serie.
View MoreSome people will find the concept of a crime fighting psychic ridiculous. But the excellent scripts, direction, special effects and mostly the compelling acting raise this series above the norm. It reminds me of The Twilight Zone for its playful willingness to explore the supernatural. The plots play on our fears about the things in life we can't control. And having the main character, Allison Du Bois, being an average suburban Mom is a master stroke. She's portrayed as someone doing her best - between doing the laundry and cooking meals - to prevent catastrophes and right wrongs. She is constantly scared and baffled by the situations she finds herself in, so we identify with her by wondering what we'd do in the same situation. The supporting cast, including her loving husband, Joe (Jake Weber), their three daughters and the charismatic detective Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt) are all excellent and exude intelligence. Some very serious issues are explored in this series, but there are also plenty of fun scenes and playing around with time, characters and effects. I recently rediscovered Medium on repeat, and was reminded what a fantastic, quality show this was.
View More(Getting caught up on this series via Netflix) Personally speaking, this show would have been a lot better with a different actress playing Allison. Arquette barely ever changes her facial expressions, nor the tone of her voice (she is usually breathless and frowning about something). Her character is selfish and annoying; she is a terrible wife to her overly caring and understanding husband. And on few occasions was more concerned about the "case" than her own family. Maybe it's because I'm watching one episode after another, but it gets hard to watch her lack of talent for acting. On a positive note, the remaining characters (particularly her 2 youngest daughters) are enjoyable, and the stories are pretty well written.
View MoreI love the supernatural/ fantasy shows but this one is by far my favorite. It made it even better that the show was based on a real story from a woman living in phoenix. I have every season on DVD and still watch this show to this day. The worst part of this show is that it ended :( I would definitely recommend this show to women who are into these kinda of things. I find that men are usually not as into it. Only met a couple of guys who really liked it. Every woman I've recommended it to though has loved it as well. It truly is my favorite show. Definitely interesting and definitely addictive. I love the family dynamics and the many different cases that she is able to solve because of her advantage over everyone else... that she talks to / can see dead people. The cases are interesting and so is how it all plays out. The only thing that got frustrating after a while was that even with all the proof that she was able to know things no one else knew, the D.A. and detectives she worked with still acted like she didn't know what she was talking about... Nonetheless, my favorite show.
