SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

The premise is promising: a girl working at the morgue starts getting flashbacks where she goes back in time and has a chance to save the life of a person who ended up as a cadaver at the morgue. But why does this happen, and who is the mysterious guy who also starts working there and seems to know more than he lets on?I stumbled across Tru Calling on broadcast television, and as a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer I thought I'd check it out. Well, if you want Eliza Dushku, I recommend you go for Dollhouse instead. Tru Calling has its merits but overall it's a bit of a disappointment. It sets up a mystery but doesn't really know what to do with it, nothing ever gets resolved and the show fizzles out.

The show's not rocket science. It's got a simple, one issue/plot per episode. The cast is decent - again - not the worst group of actors (m/f) I've ever watched. It was a good way to spend an hour (or more if it's DVR'ed). I feel bad for Eliza though - it seems that her luck with shows where she holds the lead credit is... well, it's like someone has it out for her. Maybe jealousy? Who knows. All I know is - and the comparison is apples to oranges, but shows like (DWTS - a non-SyFy channel) keep running season after season, whereas shows like this are relegated to live the life of reruns. I gotta blame the American viewers though (and yes, I am an American) - their overall taste in entertainment is really slipping. And it's shows like this that get the bullet. I know the bottom line is $$$, but seriously people - compare television of today with what it was back in the 60's, 70's, 80's. I hate to say it, but shows, and the talent behind them were at a higher caliber than what you've got today. How much effort does it take to stick some camera's in some trailer trashes double wide, and broadcast their antics to the country? Not much. Hell, most middle school kids could probably pull it off. The whole 'give the people what they want' mentality has got to change. People will watch almost anything... as evidenced by shows like ... ... well, I'm not going to throw stones at anymore than I already have... And yes, I know I've demonstrated the tangent ability by this minor diatribe. So what? You get the message, right? I know YOU do.

Tru Davies has a gift. When she's next to a corpse, sometimes it asks for help, at which point her day rewinds and she has to save the person before he dies.Early episodes of Tru Calling are extremely repetitive. Corpse asks for help, Tru's day rewinds, Tru saves person. Sure, the writers made attempts to diversify the formula (several people must be saved, day rewinds several times, etc...) and advance the storyline (Tru forms alliances with her boss at the morgue and with her brother, etc...) but still, you probably wouldn't want to have a Tru Calling marathon. This started to change about halfway through the first season with the introduction of Jason Priestley's character, and by the time the show was canceled (six episodes into the second season), things got extremely promising and viewers are left with the beginning of what would probably have been a fascinating story arc involving Eric Christian Olsen's character Jensen. It's a shame Tru Calling got canceled when it did, as by that time it had started to show the potential it had. And when you think that the Jennifer Love Hewitt vehicle Ghost Whisperer is going strong by having the same exact storyline every week, it's extremely frustrating. Tru Calling is worth checking out. I wouldn't say it's a great show (though it could have become one) but it's still pretty entertaining and certainly offers more ideas than the aforementioned somewhat similar Ghost Whisperer.

I had never heard of this show, until one day I saw the DVD at Best Buy. I think both Eliza and Jason are great actors so I gave the show a chance. It was awesome, Eliza and Jason played perfect roles and were perfect together, Jason made the show with how devious he was, and Elizas'strength and acting made the show also. Too bad Fox canceled it, I think it would be cool if Fox made a two hour finale of Tru Calling to show how it all ended up. One thing I noticed was that Tru should not win all the challenges; why bring Jack to the show if she wins them all. Other than that a great show, worth watching over again. If you get a chance pick up the DVD the show is well worth it.
