View MoreThere is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
View MoreI've seen tons of shows, including about everything on the CW, and The Outpost surprised me as having a fresh new storyline, compelling cast, unpredictability, believable special effects, and depth that makes you think but is still possible to follow. Its basically everything I look for in a new show. I really enjoy and look forward to each episode! If you haven't seen it, then you are seriously missing out the stunning performance of this completely unknown actress from obscurity, Jessica Green, who breathes such life into her character "Talon", that I practically feel like I'm right there in the show with her. (They definitely make look beautiful too, which is a plus.) I give it 9/10 stars, mostly only losing the 1 star for a slight bit of writer sloppiness of 2 of the antagonists' dialogues in episode 5, where their words said things the audience knew the characters didn't know. I chalk that up to the producers just being excited and not careful. They would have been very easy, simple line fixes, had someone been paying attention. [EDIT: But after seeing the ridiculous, unnecessary, undeserved low ratings from many with an axe to grind against this show's non-California producers, I'm bumping my rating up to a 10/10 for #TheOutPost! Its way to good to stand for an artificially low rating.]Some say the first episode was boring, but it was necessary to set the stage and get us familiar with that world. I found it interesting because they teleported us into a strange new world where the rules were different, and you aren't even sure you know what all the rules are there. After that we could more easily accept the parameters, and focus and enjoy the character development and storyline progression - which is what others often like best and are likely referring to when they say The Outpost is getting better. I have excellent taste in TV shows, and I'm concerned that the rating on IMDB here for The Outpost is severely too low - I don't trust it that low at all. Check it out! And add your review and rating to it, and I'm sure it will skyrocket soon!
View MoreSure the first episode I was like ugh....So boring. But now after 4 episodes the characters are beginning to grow and the plot thickens. I creayed this account bc its a show that will get better by time.
View MoreI usually don't have any interest in types of shows like this but I absolutely love the outpost and hope there's a second season .
View MoreAs jarring as it is to be thrown head first into a new world with unfamiliar magics and species, its even more jarring to see the awful reviews given to this show. There have been some great reviews here on imdb that defend The Outpost well, so I don't want to echo chamber this, but I also definitely created my account finally, just to leave this review. Any show deserves the attention of the viewer for more than 5mins. Especially the first 5mins. Coming to an educated opinion takes more than 5mins. You can't base an entire opinion on a show based entirely on the pilot, if that were the case, tons of great shows never would have continued past the pilot. Cheese is almost required of this genre. Its campy, cheesy, a bit over the top in areas, acting where the actors find their characters and grow into them. There is magic, creatures called Grey Skins, and a main character called a Blackblood, because of her blood. Of course it's slightly cheesy. Sex/Gender roles... Well, its just nice to see two characters carousing and drinking the tavern down while getting into a fight, winning at gambling, then passing out in an awkward pile, and have them be women. Because, yes, women do that, and its nice to see it portrayed on screen. I'm tired of tropey character, tired and dried out.. The Outpost has entirely turned them on their heads, while leaving room for new and refreshed character types.I've really enjoyed this show so far, and I'm going to be angry if it gets cancelled, I want to see the world develop and the cast become their characters, beyond a season and a half, preferably. The Outpost deserves the chance to be loved and enjoyed.
