not horrible nor great

Rio Hayward

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

It was 1993 or so and my roommates and I were flipping channels and came upon a movie in a singles bar scene and I noticed both Kevin Kline (Joey) and Phoebe Cates (girl at bar). I've always admired Kevin Kline's work and Phoebe Cates is just as beautiful as she is an amazing actress. So I asked my buddy to leave it on there. That was when Joey approached the girl at the bar. My friends and I were single therefore we could relate to that scene. Joey approached Phoebe Cates with the absolutely smoothest pick up I have ever seen in a movie in all my years. My friends and I just silently looked at each other in awe. After Kevin Kline closed the deal we started high fiving each other. It may sound adolescent of us to behave like that however that scene more than justified it. This is a very funny movie and it is worth watching for that scene alone. I highly recommend it.

Kevin Kline is my favorite actor, and "I Love You to Death" strengthens that. He plays Joey Boca, a philandering pizza maker. When his wife Rosalie (Tracey Ullman) finds out about it, she sets out trying to kill him. Unfortunately, Joey somehow has the best luck in the world. So, Rosalie and her mother (Joan Plowright) decide to hire two outside men (William Hurt and Keanu Reeves) to do the dirty work. It turns out that these two men are a pair of uber-incompetent stoners. The whole fiasco ends in a really crazy situation.Kevin Kline's Italian accent isn't totally believable, but his manic performance makes up for that. William Hurt and Keanu Reeves do a great job as the stoners. Excellent.

I love this movie and its crazy to know that its a true story- a wacky but true story. I think the movie has a really different type of sense of humor but then again so do I. All of the characters are really funny in their own ways and it made me laugh to see them all interacting together. The father (Kevin Klein) is so clueless about everything. This movie takes some serious subjects and make them funny and something to joke about- not to mention its a true story. Also, Keanu Reeves who usually does serious movie roles like the matrix and sweet November is hilarious in this movie, he plays a total druggy and does a really good job at it. Anyways I have seen this movie tons of times and recommend that you watch it, maybe you'll like it maybe you wont.

I saw this film and to tell you the truth,it is hilarious; Not because My mother is named Rosalie, and the leading actor plays a character from an Italian family(my mom happens to be of Italian descent). The mother in laws in the film really crack me up. One funny scene was when Joey's mom slaps him around as he is suffering in pain at the hospital. Then, she wonders why He fell after she went too far. Plowright is a great actress and is comical as Ullman's mother. Her final line is great "Then,we shoot him". Kline gave a cute line saying "it proves that America was founded by one italian and discovered by another". He is great as the oblivious victim, and you almost feel sorry for him.I had a chuckle watching this film and I own a tape of this one, crazy movie. I recommend it heartily.
