a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

A story that's too fascinating to pass by...

Hadrina

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Joey works with Rosalie in their pizza parlour. She is convinced that he works all of the time for them and her world dissolves when she finds that he has been cheating on her for years.Being Catholic, divorce is out of the question, so she and her mother and her best friend decide to kill him.Hopelessly incompetent as killers, they hire incompetent professionals as they beat, poison, and shoot Joey, who remains oblivious to their attempts.....Very loosely based on a true story, this film is one of those old fashioned farces that we haven't seen in years.Inexplicably ignored on release, and to some extent ever since, this film does drag a little toward the end, but thanks to some great characters and Kline in one of his best roles, it has some truly funny moments.Reeves and Hurt almost steal the whole movie as the drug addicted hit men, using physical comedy as much as verbal, when they are on screen, the film is at it's most entertaining.Ullman is okay, but she is overshadowed by Plowright, who is basically in every scene Ullman is in.The script is sharp and very observant, and despite the sickly sweet ending, it has a very dark streak running through the movie.Funny and at times very slapstick, it will put a smile on your face.Be sure to catch it when it's on TV.

This movie is super funny and exciting. It is even more exciting for me as the couple's son, in real life, is my teacher. He doesn't talk about this movie, but has hinted at several things related to it. I find it very interesting that people give this movie a poor review and then when they find out it's based on a true story, they love it! I love the irony. It is such an interesting story that I cannot believe would actually happen. This is one of my favorite movies. The characters are portrayed well, which makes the comedy more light-hearted. I love the parts of Keanu Reeves and William Hurt. The movie was funny from the beginning, but they just made it even better.

This movie definitely falls under the genres of black and offbeat humor. While I don't know how much truth went into this movie (it's based on a true story), it still remains an entertaining movie of what not to do when murdering someone; to say the least. The absolute scene stealer is River Phoenix. If you are of the younger generation of movie goer's and found out that Joaquin Phoenix had an Oscar nominated brother, and went...who? Then you definitely have to brush up by watching this movie, just to see the dexterity of one of Hollywood's most tragic acting story. Drama or comedy, it didn't matter; River Phoenix did it, and easily (if you find out you like Phoenix, and you like weird movies; I recommend Silent Tongue, it's also his last performance). Kevin Kline as one of the lead roles is also fascinating; his rendering of a macho, adulterous, ethnic Italian is up to par. If you like weird, somewhat dark movies; this movie is for you. Keanu Reeves, and William Hurt are also stellar in this movie.

Kevin Kline as a landlord/superintendent. He is married to a good woman (Tracy Ullman) and has 2 young children. His mother-in-law lives with the family and is a Mrs-Fix-It. "Joey" is also the owner of "Joey's Pizza" and works a great many hours. His main employee (River Phoenix) has a soft spot for Joey's wife (Rosalee, played by Tracy Ullman).Joey is a very hard worker, an extremely busy man. How does he find the time to... (no, I won't tell you - see the movie!) Surprisingly, this movie is "based on a true story." I've seen it a number of times. Used to watch it whenever I felt a little down and it always cheered me up! FUNNY movie with a lot of FUNNY lines. Kevin Kline is great in this, as are all the others. See it!
