Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Disturbing yet enthralling
Beautiful, moving film.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
View MoreHead-strong book lover Marty Claridge (Katherine Heigl) and her husband Aaron travel out west and find their perfect spot. Aaron quickly dies in an accident. At the funeral, widower Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff) proposes to marry Marty before the preacher is gone till next spring. She struggles with grief and raising her tomboy step-daughter Missie (Skye McCole Bartusiak) who has grief of her own. She has Aaron's baby and plans to go back east when spring arrives. Sarah Graham (Theresa Russell) tells her that she and Ben Graham (Corbin Bernsen) were widowers with children when they got married. They were not in love at first but sometimes, "love comes softly".It's a good story of struggle and faith. It's also a kind of romance that is rarely celebrated in modern stories. Heigl is fitting of this head strong woman. Her relationship with Missie is heart warming. The religious aspects are very prominent but it doesn't get preachy. The production value is competent for a TV movie. This is a nice little movie.
View MoreI loved this movie! I had never read the book, and was expecting a boring movie... but I was pleasantly surprised. I think the thing I enjoyed the most was the focus on ROMANCE, as opposed to SEX, which seems to be the theme of most movies today! Love takes time to develop, and this movie beautifully illustrates this.I have to also say that the daughter in the movie did a great job! She gave a very believable performance of a young girl who is struggling to accept a potential "step-mom". The movie shows the development of not only the relationship between future husband & wife, but also between future step-daughter & step-mom. Lots of excellent life lessons to be learned in this movie!
View Moredoes anyone know who really did sing come thou fount in this movie,i had read somewhere it was not dale? i loved the voice and have looked for it multi times. i think the movie was a so very good and good and respectful and clean. with only your imagination to the love, which is so much better than seeing most movies that show way too much.nothing left to the imagination. clark's soft voice and reassuring looks make him a man most women would love to have. great affection for everything and humor also. the girl who play the young missy was great.i loved her acting. hope to see her in other movies.when it opened with the first scene and you just knew what was going to happen and i was about to change channels.kept watching and such a feeling of sadness .i think kathrine heigle played her best role to date in this movie.i loved her in this and have not cared for other movies i've seen her in.yes i think she was an excellent marty.
View MoreLOVE, based on a book series, is about a pregnant widow (Katherine Heigl) staying for awhile with a farmer (Dale Midkiff) who is a widower with a small daughter (Skye Bartusiak). Not surprisingly, she falls in love with the hardworking, God-fearing farmer, and hopes to stay and make a new life with him. Heigl and Midkiff turn in strong performances, and Bartusiak holds her own with these seasoned actors. The TV movie will remind many of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, and coincidentally was directed by Michael Landon Jr., son of Michael Landon, star of LITTLE HOUSE. There's a spiritual element to the plot and several references to a higher power, but it is not laid on so thick as to harm the movie. Beautifully filmed.
