Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Have the series of movies on dvd. This movie started it all.Mike Landon Jr good director.Great acting.Maybe some expect a movie has to have profanity and sex and special effects to be watchable, but when that's your requirement,go to an amusement park or arcade because you're missing out on life. This movie holds my interest from start to finish because it tells an honest story about characters who are worth caring about.Loved seeing the third generation Macready gentleman here,Oliver Macready.Loved Dale and Corbin!

Head-strong book lover Marty Claridge (Katherine Heigl) and her husband Aaron travel out west and find their perfect spot. Aaron quickly dies in an accident. At the funeral, widower Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff) proposes to marry Marty before the preacher is gone till next spring. She struggles with grief and raising her tomboy step-daughter Missie (Skye McCole Bartusiak) who has grief of her own. She has Aaron's baby and plans to go back east when spring arrives. Sarah Graham (Theresa Russell) tells her that she and Ben Graham (Corbin Bernsen) were widowers with children when they got married. They were not in love at first but sometimes, "love comes softly".It's a good story of struggle and faith. It's also a kind of romance that is rarely celebrated in modern stories. Heigl is fitting of this head strong woman. Her relationship with Missie is heart warming. The religious aspects are very prominent but it doesn't get preachy. The production value is competent for a TV movie. This is a nice little movie.

I love this movie!! Never read any of the books or even heard of the author. I'm usually not a person for romantic movies and I don't even read romantic novels, not one for Little 'House on the Prairie' either (thats kids stuff!!), but when I decided to watch this one it touched my heart deeply. I have watched it 4 times since then and only just found out that there are sequels to this movie!! So now I'm in the process of purchasing all the movies that follow on from this one. {UPDATE: Found all the other sequels not very good and a great disappointment. Cannot remember the actress who played the grown-up of the little girl by Dakota Fanning.... but the adult actress was really awful! Very bad acting, and in the other sequels! She spoilt the whole series! I will just stick to this one!}Great acting from all and love Dale Midkiff. Just love his character where he puts God first in his life. Soooooo want to see him in more movies like this - he's a sexy guy!! (I think so anyway!):o) I thought the story was excellent and such a change from all the filth that movies are filled with today violence, swearing, murders, serial killers. AND those endless court cases, BOY!! give us a break!!. Hope more movies are produced like this one as I'm hooked! Love the title and the whole meaning of it.

This is a wonderful movie about loss, love and faith. It has become my absolute favorite movie...for now at least. The little girl Missie is such a doll and perfect for her role. The movie has a bit of "Little House on the Prairie" feel to it but has a lot of it's own appeal. All of my friends love this sweet movie, too. Just shows Hollywood that not all of us are into the s_x, blood and gore of most movies out there. Most of us adore the more faith-based, clean, wholesome movies. My favorite part that makes me cry every time is when Marty is swinging on the homemade rope swing and is crying and crying over the loss of her husband...awe, just too sweet. And then when Marty walks in on Missy crying over her mothers death and confronts Marty, oh, my heart just breaks. This is a movie that the whole family can watch together.
