Very Cool!!!
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
View MoreEasily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
View MoreIt is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
View MoreI was disappointed. It was just ok. The movie had a few jolts, but it wasn't as interesting because the family was boring and it was also a custody movie about the abusive father taking the kids away from his ex-wife. It was very weird watching both a heartfelt drama about an abusive father and an evil creature wanting to take a child away and kill the family. I realized it's especially hard to make a sequel to Sinister because he's just going to haunt another family, take children and can't die.
View MoreThe current IMDb rating of 5.3 is at least 3 points higher than the movie deserves. The budget for the move is shown is $10 million, and I am willing to bet that none of it went toward writing a decent script. And I say this in spite of the fact that I have a very low quality threshold when it comes to horror movies.
View MoreI was so excited about this movie and I was completely let down. I got so bored I had to turn it off. There was no sense of malevolence like the first or any foreboding thoughts like, "you probably shouldn't't watch those videos Ethan Hawke" to tide me over. What a bummer. What a disappointment.
View MoreI really liked the first Sinister. So much that I just recently watched it again. The original is old school horror with a proper story, good characters, great style and direction and very little if no gore. I wasn't expecting much of this sequel looking at the score here, but it was better than I thought. The story is pretty good, it's kind of continuation from the first movie and Deputy So & So is the lead this time. I think he makes a good lead character here, kind of a lone wolf. I was thinking he could easily pull off a Sinister series, either movies or TV.This sequel has a bit different feel to it, but it's still relatively low key and slow paced. The direction is good and the movie has the looks of a proper movie, it doesn't feel cheap. Unless maybe for the lack of a-list cast. The story isn't necessarily quite as gripping as the original, but the family drama is quite well put together to fill in the story. This movie also goes to explain a little how the whole bughool story got started, would've liked to have more of it as it was quite good.I found this sequel in a way more scary than the first one. The original is more of an old school drama and psychological horror, but this sequel leans more into modern horror that really makes you feel uneasy. The 16mm movies are still spooky, but they're also a lot gorier and IMO more disturbing. I prefer the original here as I'm not too much into gore. I think this would've worked with less graphic scenes just as well. There's plenty of jump scares too and sound fx to match. All in all, this is a well made horror movie. Not quite as good as the original, but definitely not as bad as it's said to be.
