Queen Canary (Virginia Bryant) is captured by Kadar (Richard Lynch), who wears black so everybody can see he's the vilain. Two little boys from her people become slaves and later grow to become very strong men. Kutchek (Peter Paul) and Gore (David Paul) decide they'll rescue the queen better late than never, so about 20 years after her capture, the rescue team is on the way! Canary instructs the twins to get a certain magic stone first, and the quest for the ruby involves the usual challenges, from a tavern brawl to fighting a dragon in the swamp. Fortunately, they also meet a girl who does the brain work for them (Eve LaRue)...I watched most Italian barbarian movies of the 1980s, from "Ator" to "Conquest", but this one I missed somehow which is a shame because with a bigger budget than those, it looks fairly good, and since it fortunately doesn't take itself seriously, it is an entertaining entry in the genre. Realising the limited acting skills of the muscular twins in the lead roles, director Deodato changed the direction of the movie from violent action flick to comedy which was a wise move. Except for a few small gory bits (e.g. cutting off a finger to get a ring), you wouldn't think this is from the same director who shot 'Cannibal Holocaust'.

Brawny twin brothers Kutchek and Gore join forces to rescue their kidnapped queen Canary (a bewitching turn by the strikingly lovely and radiant Virginia Bryant) from the vile clutches of evil tyrant Kadar (veteran bad guy thesp Richard Lynch in fine wicked form) so they can restore the itinerant gypsy tribe they were adopted from to its former glory. Feisty outlaw gal Kara (a winningly spunky portrayal by the incredibly comely Eva LaRue) helps our endearingly thick-skulled musclehead heroes out.Director Ruggero Deodato, working from a blithely inane script by James R. Silke, wisely doesn't take the silly story seriously, maintains an engaging tongue-in-cheek tone throughout, keeps the enjoyably asinine plot moving along at a brisk pace, stages the sword fights with gusto, and even tosses in a few decent bits of splatter. The cast have a grand time with the campy material: Peter and David Paul make for amiable leads, Sheeba Alahani really sinks her teeth into the juicy role of formidable and treacherous sorceress China, Michael Berryman likewise has a ball as vicious lackey the Dirtmaster, and George Eastman pops up in a nifty bit as slimy arms dealer Jacko. Pino Donaggio's robust score hits the rousing spot. Gianlorenzo Battaglia's glossy cinematography and the pretty lavish production values provide an impressively polished look (the giant animatronic dragon in particular is quite gnarly). The bevy of luscious scantly clad harem girls supplies plenty of delectable eye candy. Good dumb fun.

Yep, it's a bad movie. What makes it watchable anyway is that it has a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor and takes many scenes over the top on purpose.The Bros. are hilarious, as nothing can stop them! Not trickery, not villains, not monsters, and certainly not an utter lack of any acting ability! Richard Lynch will forever be missed. Crazy hair or no, he was about as good at being bad as anybody ever was.As for Eva La Rue, this was -- per IMDb, anyway -- her first role. Her voice was totally unconvincing dramatically, but boy was she ever cute!! Still is, too. Someone said they thought she must wish this would disappear, but I wouldn't think so. If youth and cuteness don't entitle you to have some campy fun, what good are they?4/10, but add at least 2 more stars if you're into cheese.

Fun film. The two brothers are complete baffoons, but they manage to save the land. Go figure. Eva La Rue is beautiful. Rent it with a few beers and you'll have some good laughs. I don't quite understand the whole "grunting" thing... you'll understand after you see the film. It sounds identical to the sound made by Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber, when he says "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" Surprisingly, there is some blood, and good deaths, but the best part is when Kadar gets his finger bitten off by a kid. Classic.
