Sorry, this movie sucks

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

When I considered watching this TV show, I thought what is it about? and why it got so high rating on IMDB.com?.. I watched all 3 seasons and found that it is kind of enjoyable TV show.. My rating is heavily concentrating on season 2. If I would keep the seasons in order of how enjoyable they were to me I would say: season 2, season 1, season 3 (actually season 3 was not necessary at all to me and season 1 was just a building up for season 2).What I liked about this TV show? mostly the style, then the story of season 2. The style includes the way presenting the atmosphere and the characters, the neat and reasonable physical transformations of some characters. I have to be honest that I've been taking away by the atmosphere and the presentation of the characters in first season and I found the story is slim in that season. The TV show is for mature audience for its severe sexual and violence content.

... where great shows are cancelled when they become more interesting and the writers need to wrap everything up as quickly as possible making a fu%$£"* mess in the process. So why did I gave 8 to this show if I think the above? Well, very simple... because I do believe that the first two series where wonderful and full of great potential. Of course nothing is utterly original and even Penny Dreadful was quite derivative (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen anyone???!!!). Yet the characters were very relatable, the gothic atmosphere was thrilling and Ms Ives' secrets (many great secrets) very intriguing indeed.But what about the HORRIBLE (yes not DREADFUL ;) ) third series? A train wreck (undoubtedly right???!!!) on many levels - and I am very generous. It introduces characters, storylines, backgrounds and, worst of all, promises a climax that in the last episode (I feel nauseous thinking about that episode) becomes a big stinking fart on the viewers' general direction. I really don't have the energy nor the time in my mortal life to describe the obvious (if you watched it of course) and the details of what happened (especially what didn't happen) at the end. Just KNOW this: THE MARKET WINS AGAIN. So let's give people what people want: more dumb COP and HOSPITAL shows. Eat, swallow, enjoy and choke peeps...

Finally getting around to watching this on Netflix...If you like movies or shows about monsters and monster hunters/fighters, this is right up your alley. I've only watched 3 episodes, so far, and I am loving it. The only aspect of the show I dislike is the casting of Billie Piper, whose attempt at an Irish accent is like nails on a blackboard. I've seen her in a couple things, and I just don't like her. However, the other characters are so intriguing that I can ignore her when she's on screen. This show has a fair amount of graphic sex and violence; the graphic sex stuff isn't my cup of tea, but thankfully, someone invented fast-forward. The episode "Demimonde" is particularly loaded with cringeworthy content. So far, the storyline has jumped back and forth in time quite a bit, so it can be difficult to follow at times; I just go to a fandom site when I get too confused (beware spoilers in those sites, though, if you don't like knowing ahead of time what will happen). The costumes and sets are very well done. The seedy side of old London is as seedy as it gets. The best thing about the show are the characters & how they've been brought together; for those who have read the classics of horror, or are even just familiar with the modern re-tellings, characters from Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. have been brought to cross paths with each other, along with some unknowns added. Dorian Gray and Vanessa Ives are my favorites, but every character other than Brona is a pleasure to watch and hear. I've peeked at some spoilers [can't seem to watch anything anymore without doing that], and I am eagerly anticipating the story progression.

Sadly that this TV series had just 3 seasons.i just wanted to see more and more of this awesome TV series..just give to this one a try and you'll be completely attracted by. The actress does everything and it's perfect for this role. It has some mature sexuality , violence , it's horror , it has everything you need to be totally "addicted"
