What a waste of my time!!!
Excellent, Without a doubt!!
I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
View MoreLet me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
View MoreSo is it true that many of these TV serials get 8 to 10 stars from people who have invested in the shows? Anyway, nothing creative; nothing new; same old collection of the following non-creative plot/set ripoffs: a psychic; dead ghosts that look more like people with white powder on their bodies with messed up hair; ouija board (boring); holy water; a vampire or two; Lucifer; witchcraft and/or wicca; ritual sacrifice; possessed levitating bodies; animal to human switcheroo (like a werewolf); pentagrams & candles on floors; weird contact lenses to represent whatever; and the recent movie prop trick (now everywhere) of people/things turning into gray smokey stuff; Devil w/horns and other stereotyped characteristics walking about (you would think with his power he 'ld have better things to do). Acting: Typical no name TV serial resume actors. Dialogue: Dumbed down simplistic in part so it's easy to memorize short lines. Action: A couple of cheap CGIs; essentially 95% camera panning on talking heads.
View MoreI think I may have had a little too high expectations for this show and a 6 is being very generous...I really REALLY wanted to love this, but after watching the first season I can only look back and cringe... a lot. The story and plot have so many holes and the writing jumps all over the place leaving so many unanswered questions. Like, why does a character's hair suddenly become totally chopped off in the middle of a fight scene?!?!?! Silly bloopers like this annoy me.I was a big fan of True Blood and Midnight Texas is, unfortunately, nothing like it. To put it aptly, Midnight Texas is more like some Buffy spin-off with bad costume makeup and acting to match. I feel like I've been sent back to the 90s!Regardless, I think this show will be a massive hit with the tweens. It is still enjoyable and you definitely want to find more about some of the characters (e.g. sexy Jason Lewis from SATC playing a gay angel *.*) what more could you want?
View Morestory lines are not the problem, although they jump around and solutions to seeming vexing problems seem to pop up too conveniently. Dialogue between characters is abhorrent, and has gotten progressively worse throughout the series. I can't believe the actors didn't revolt and refuse to cite such drivel.Manfred is a pretty decent actor, and kudos to grandma Xylda - perhaps my favorite. Other acting is "OK" - the characters they have to portray are a stretch and the group's relationships simply leave you shaking your head. One exception, Sarah Ramos - straight from the Kristen Steward school of acting. We understand she played a moody, brooding teenager in Parenthood. But, apparently that was the extend of her full acting range - her scenes in Midnight are unwatchable.Maybe blame the book, but do we really need a gay angel? Again, maybe it's the book, but some character names were just too cutsie for my taste: Creek, Fiji, Bobo? come on.
View MoreI have read the books loved them, and I think they did a wonderful job on the show. I can't wait for more. There were a few minor changes to some of the charters but all in all I think they did a great job. It will be interesting on were the go from here since it will pretty much being an open playing field for the writers. There is so many ways to continue this series it will be a great ride.
